Link Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Link is an app that helps two friends find time to see each other. It compares when you are both free and suggests a weekly hangout. This policy explains exactly what data Link collects, why, and what it never does.

Link is an independent personal project, not a company. It has no advertising, and it does not sell data to anyone.

What Link collects

When you sign in:

You can sign in with Google or with Sign in with Apple. Link stores:

This is used to create your account, show you to friends you connect with, and let a friend find you by invite code.

From your Google Calendar, only if you tap "Connect Calendar":

Scheduling needs a connected Google Calendar, whichever way you signed in.

Link reads your calendar through Google's FreeBusy API. That API returns only busy time ranges. Link does not receive, request, or store your event titles, descriptions, locations, guest lists, attachments, or notes. Link cannot see what you are doing, only that a block of time is taken.

Created inside the app:

Collected automatically:

What Link does with it

Link only ever creates the event for the hangout you agreed on. It does not read, change, or delete any of your other calendar events.

That is the whole purpose. Link does not use your data to build advertising profiles, and it does not use your calendar data to train machine learning or AI models.

What your connected friend can see

Connecting with a friend is mutual and by invite code. Once connected, so that the app can show when the two of you are free, your friend's app receives the start and end times of your busy blocks for the upcoming window, alongside your name and profile photo.

Your friend never sees what those blocks are. No titles, no locations, no guests. Only that you are busy from, for example, 2:00pm to 3:00pm.

Your friend also sees the plans you share with them, your streak together, the hangout notes you both write, and your rough "last active" time.

If you do not want to share your busy times, do not connect your calendar. You can still sign in and connect with friends, but Link cannot find times or schedule hangouts without it.

Google user data and limited use

Link's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically, Link requests these scopes:

Link does not transfer this data to third parties except as needed to provide the app itself, and does not allow humans to read it, except with your explicit permission, to resolve a support issue you have reported, or where required by law.

Services Link uses

Link uses no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services.

Where it is stored, and security

Data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) and processed by Google Cloud Functions. Access is controlled by server-side security rules:

The Google authorization token that lets Link check your calendar is held in a private area of your own record that no app client can read, including your own device and your friend's. Only Link's server-side functions can use it, and only to run the calendar checks and create the hangout events described above.

Retention and deleting your data

Your data is kept while your account exists. You can remove it at any time:

Children

Link is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will change and, where the change affects how your data is used, you will be notified in the app.
